President John Dramani Mahama was in Parliament on Thursday February 25, 2016, to deliver the State of the Nation Address.
Among the many sectors he spoke about, he enumerated a number of interventions and projects carried out by government to improve the country’s health sector.
President Mahama said currently the National Health Insurance Scheme's (NHIS) subscription, has increased from 597,000 members in 2005, to 11.2 million in 2015, representing 41% of the country's population.
This he said proved the confidence reposed in the scheme by Ghanaians and in the health sector, contrary to suggestions that the scheme is collapsing.
President Mahama also said Ghanaians are living longer by 14 years.
