Below is the full text of President Mahama's inaugural speech at the Blackstars square on Monday January 7, 2013.


INAUGURAL ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS SWEARING-IN AS
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA

Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament,
His Excellency the Vice President,
Her Ladyship the Chief Justice,
Your Excellencies our dear former Presidents,
Your Excellencies Visiting Heads of State and Heads of Delegations,
Hon. Members of Parliament,

President Mahama assumes office as President of Ghana, assures to keep promise


President John Dramani Mahama  had on Monday morning sworn  the Presidential Oath and Oath of  Office to assume office as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

President Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur took the oath of office, which was administered by the Chief Justice, Mrs Theodora Georgina Wood, before an open Parliament at the Independence Square in Accra.

President Mahama assumed the mantle of leadership after winning by 50.70% in the recent elections held on December 7 and 8, respectively with the NPP's candidate Nana Akufo-Addo gaining 47.74%.

This was after he completed the Presidency of the late President John Evans Atta Mills who died on July 24, 2012.

In his inaugural speech on Monday, President Mahama promised to kept his campaign promises as well as be an ally to the business community.
